Description

Investec is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives within the Risk and Compliance Technology space. This role is responsible for driving structured, predictable, and governance-aligned delivery across both Agile and Waterfall environments. The successful candidate will operate within a matrixed, shared-capacity environment, ensuring effective coordination across business, technology, and compliance stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership without formal authority, proactive risk and dependency management, and the ability to deliver within strict regulatory and governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

•    Ensure alignment with the Investec Technology Project Management Policy across all assigned initiatives. 
•    Drive adherence to governance standards to enable structured, transparent, and audit-ready delivery. 
•    Ensure all mandatory artefacts are completed, maintained, and stored in approved repositories, including Business Case / Roadmap, Project Plan, RAID Logs, Steerco Packs, Benefit Realisation, Project Closeout documentation. 
•    Lead end-to-end project delivery across Agile and Waterfall workstreams. 
•    Manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, and dependencies to ensure predictable delivery outcomes. 
•    Operate effectively in a shared-capacity model, balancing competing priorities and constraints. 
•    Ensure early re-baselining of plans where required, with clear stakeholder alignment. 
•    Drive delivery discipline across all project phases and lifecycle stages. 
•    Manage delivery within a matrix structure, where resources are shared between BAU and project work. 
•    Ensure clear resource allocation and alignment with Application Owners and functional leads. 
•    Proactively identify and manage: Risks and issues, Cross-team dependencies, Capacity constraints, Trade-offs impacting delivery. 
•    Maintain and actively manage RAID logs with clear ownership and timelines. 
•    Drive timely escalation and resolution of blockers. 
•    Provide accurate, timely, and data-driven reporting to stakeholders and leadership. 
•    Maintain full visibility of delivery health, risks, and progress through tools such as Projectum. 
•    Facilitate planning cycles (PI planning, quarterly planning) and translate outputs into actionable delivery plans. 
•    Ensure clear documentation and communication of decisions, actions, and outcomes. 
•    Build strong stakeholder confidence through consistent communication and transparency. 
•    Lead cross-functional teams without formal line authority, fostering accountability and collaboration. 
•    Establish clear RACI structures, decision rights, and ways-of-working early in the project lifecycle. 
•    Drive a culture of continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback loops. 
•    Strengthen delivery capability across the Compliance Tech landscape through improved practices and consistency.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

•    Extensive experience in senior project management roles within financial services or compliance/regulatory environments.
•    Strong understanding of compliance-driven technology delivery (advantageous).
•    Proven experience managing complex, multi-stream programmes in matrix environments.
•    Expertise in: Structured project management methodologies & Agile and hybrid delivery models. 
•    Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at senior levels.
•    Ability to operate effectively under ambiguity and competing priorities. 
•    Familiarity with Project management tools.
