Power Platform Engineer Client Tech (13838)

Description

We are looking for a senior, hands-on Power Platform Engineer to help guide, govern and scale the organisation's Microsoft Power Platform capability.

This role combines practical solution delivery with platform administration, governance and technical direction. You will build and support production solutions, maintain the health and control of the Power Platform estate, and use your experience to guide teams on when to use Power Platform, how to design solutions appropriately, and which patterns or approaches should be avoided. Working alongside the team's technical engineering and DevOps capabilities, you will influence platform standards and help shape the ongoing Power Platform roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain production-grade solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse.
  • Provide experienced technical guidance on solution design, platform fit, scalability, security, supportability and maintainability.
  • Assess business requirements and advise when Power Platform is appropriate, when it is not, and what alternative approach should be considered.
  • Support the administration and ongoing improvement of the Power Platform estate across environments, access, security, connectors, capacity and platform configuration.
  • Define, implement and improve Power Platform governance, guardrails and Center of Excellence practices.
  • Monitor platform usage, solution ownership, compliance, risk, performance and operational health, and drive remediation where required.
  • Establish and promote standards, reusable components, templates, reference patterns and practical guidance for makers and delivery teams.
  • Review existing solutions and identify technical debt, unsupported patterns, security concerns and opportunities for simplification or improvement.
  • Apply application lifecycle management practices across development, test and production environments, working with DevOps engineers on controlled deployment processes.
  • Automate recurring platform administration, governance and operational processes where appropriate.
  • Coach makers and technical teams on good Power Platform practices while providing appropriate challenge and oversight for higher-risk solutions.
  • Evaluate new Power Platform, Copilot and automation capabilities through research, proofs of concept and structured recommendations.
  • Use platform insights, delivery experience and stakeholder feedback to guide priorities and contribute to the Power Platform roadmap.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • At least eight years of hands-on Microsoft Power Platform experience, including significant experience delivering and supporting solutions in production.
  • Strong experience developing canvas apps, model-driven apps and cloud flows using Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Dataverse, including data modelling, relationships, security roles, solutions and integration considerations.
  • Demonstrated experience administering Power Platform environments through the Power Platform admin centre.
  • Practical experience implementing Power Platform governance, environment strategies, Data Loss Prevention policies, connector controls, capacity management and ownership standards.
  • Experience assessing solution architecture and identifying appropriate and inappropriate Power Platform use cases and design patterns.
  • Experience reviewing or improving existing apps and flows for performance, security, maintainability, reliability and supportability.
  • Experience with application lifecycle management, managed solutions, environment variables, connection references and controlled deployment practices.
  • Good understanding of enterprise security, compliance, audit and operational risk considerations within a managed platform.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills across apps, flows, Dataverse and platform administration.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions and explain trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently, make sound recommendations and influence platform direction through experience and evidence.
  • Proficiency in using AI-enabled productivity tools, such as Copilot, to improve efficiency, generate insight and support decision-making. Applies critical thinking and sound judgement when interpreting outputs, remains accountable for the quality and accuracy of their work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Microsoft Power Platform certifications, ideally PL-400, PL-600 or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with the Power Platform CoE Starter Kit, Managed Environments and platform administration tooling.
  • Experience with Power Platform pipelines, Azure DevOps, source control and enterprise application lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to APIs, custom connectors, Azure services and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Experience with Copilot Studio, AI Builder or other Microsoft AI capabilities within governed enterprise environments.
  • Development experience using JavaScript, C#, .NET, Power Fx or Power Platform Component Framework.
  • Experience defining technical standards, solution review processes, reference architectures or governance controls.
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Experience working within a platform, governance or enablement team.

What makes you a great fit

  • You are an experienced Power Platform practitioner who is still comfortable building and solving technical problems hands-on.
  • You understand both the value and the limitations of low-code and can confidently advise what should and should not be built on the platform.
  • You balance enablement with control, helping teams move quickly without compromising security, quality or supportability.
  • You think beyond individual solutions and consider platform-wide impact, technical debt, operational ownership and long-term sustainability.
  • You are comfortable challenging weak designs, recommending better patterns and explaining your reasoning constructively.
  • You take ownership from initial assessment through delivery, governance and operational support.
  • You communicate clearly and credibly with makers, engineers, architects, risk teams and business stakeholders.
