Fraud Consultant (Operations) (10672)

Description

The primary function of this role is to minimize the Private Bank Account's fraud exposure through the effective investigation and administration of fraud cases through desktop investigation. This also includes consultation, stakeholder engagement, portfolio analysis, project management and support of all relevant product initiatives, while providing a distinctive client experience.

Description of your responsibilities:

  • Contact clients to confirm the legitimacy of attempted/approved fraud transactions.
  • Manage and investigate a variety of fraud alerts using fraud prevention and detection systems.
  • Provide support and assistance to the broader fraud team regarding ad hoc initiatives, projects, and administration tasks.
  • Daily engagements with internal and external stakeholders: Client Support Centre, Bankers, and external Vendors, Agent Banks etc.
  • Take part in the cross-skilling initiatives within the Fraud team to become a multi-skilled individual.
  • Assist with the identification of new fraud trends & action appropriately for assessment and closing of gaps related to processes, policies and systems.
  • Conduct a risk assessment with each investigation, which includes quantification of the loss, exposure, blocking accounts, claims, provisions, risk mitigation and compliance reporting etc.
  • Identify high-risk Business areas, through feedback received from parties attending risk forums/investigations outcomes and perform specific fraud awareness to the identified staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders such as SAPS, other Banks, SARBRIC etc. to ensure that their co-operation can be obtained when required for key operations such as recovery actions, industry compliance etc.
  • Interact with counterparts in the industry to share information, gain an understanding of the threats and risks and to ultimately keep abreast of changes in the field and in the industry.
  • Actively participate in regular meetings with stakeholder / business, providing input and sharing information on best practices / investigation findings /risk identifications etc.
  • Identify areas of improvement, make suggestions/recommendations on ways of working, concerning the investigative and operating methodologies to improve standards and workflow.
  • Expertise across current fraud trends and scams to have appropriate conversations with clients to detect when our genuine client may be at risk of being scammed.
  • Be an engaged team player, contributing to the team's overall success.
  • Be flexible with shift work – after business hours on weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Fraud, Risk and/ Forensic related Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to understand complex systems and processes
  • Understanding of banking policies, regulations, and procedures in a fraud environment
  • Report writing Skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • 2-4 years of Fraud experience (preferred)
