Head of Data (Risk & Compliance Tech) (10892)

Description

Investec is looking for a Head of Data for Risk and Compliance Technology division. They will be responsible for formulating and executing the technology strategy and day-to-day aspects of the platform that delivers data for the Risk and Compliance business units. Ensure the Data teams have the correct mix of capabilities to provide value and that all people development aspects get given adequate attention.

 

Responsibilities include
•    Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives. This entails crafting a data roadmap that identifies data assets, defines data governance, and outlines strategies for data collection, storage, analysis, and utilization
•    Oversee all data management functions and ensure that data is reliable, secure, and accessible to authorized users, adhering to industry standards and regulatory compliance
•    Enabling development of Artificial Intelligence as part of the core data strategy
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Risk and Compliance and foster strong relationships to integrate data insights into decision-making process
•    Development of all team members in line with their development journey and in conjunction with the needs of the team
•    Drive the architectural roadmap for the set of applications in your portfolio aligned with the Investec technology modernisation strategy and in partnership with all stakeholders
•    Delivery against the application roadmaps and for the execution of engineering practices in the team
•    End-to-end accountability for all aspects of the application lifecycle, solution design, build, project management, and operations of the applications in the portfolio, including vendor management
•    Instil a culture of ownership, delivery, continuous improvement, and quality in the team
•    Accurate technology risk assessments of the application and supporting infrastructure (including security)
•    Overall cost management of the applications and vendor commercials, including creating and maintaining budgets


Experience, skill and capability

•    Demonstrated track record of solution delivery and value creation in a financial services organisation
•    Previous leadership role in a financial services organisation's application development or application ownership area
•    Experience in people management and technical leadership
•    10+ years of experience in a senior data management role with a proven track record of success in developing and implementing data strategies that drive business impact
•    Strong understanding of data management principles, best practices, and technologies. Expertise in data architecture, data quality, data security, data governance, and data analytics methodologies
•    Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate complex data concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
•    Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to analyse business challenges, identify data-driven solutions, and develop actionable insights that inform decision-making
•    Passion for data and a deep understanding of its transformative power. Genuine enthusiasm for the potential of data to revolutionize industries and solve real-world problems
