Description
The Private Bank Technology team is looking for a Solutions Architect. The Private Bank Solutions Architect works within the boundary of the PB Tech Structures and is primarily involved in the Private Bank solutions landscape. The PB Tech Solutions Architect works in partnership with Solution Architects, Application Owners, Engineering and Business in order to facilitate the Architecture Roadmap for Private Bank.
As a Solutions Architect you will support all architecture activities that guide the development and management of our business. The Solutions Architect must have a deep understanding of business goals, objectives and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. The Solution Architect must be able to provide the necessary leadership and architecture artefacts to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that we meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. The Solutions Architect must be able to create and maintain deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "as is" and "to be" solutions — including systems (applications, processes, and information), shared application services and components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes. It is essential that the Solutions Architect develops strong relationships with architects across geographies and business units, ensuring that the mindset and the language used consider the Group, not just PB Tech.
Experience, skill and capability
Primary Tasks
• Documentation of the Target Architecture State for Private Bank Technology including the impact of the Group Business and Technology Strategy e.g., Cloud
• Participation in application selection (New or replacement)
• Defining High Level Solution Architectures and patterns and provide continuity in those solution decisions
• Defines appropriate architecture and standards for data integration for applications
• Coach the technical development team in the development of the application solution in terms of the architecture required
• Responsible for building and maintaining detailed architecture blueprints/roadmaps for relevant application(s) in a standard format agreed across the Group as well as maintaining as-is and to-be Investec architecture
• Make sure that the capabilities that each application offers are aligned with Investec and Divisional architecture
• Adhere to and contribute to architecture processes, policies and standards
• Keep up to date with development in technology and business trends
Experience key to this role:
• 8+ years of experience in architecture
• Background in software development (advantageous)
• Understanding of architecture frameworks e.g. TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
• Understanding of the development ecosystem within Microsoft (Languages, DevOps tooling) including Azure
• Analytics capabilities
• Monitoring and support
• Integration capabilities
• Security
Additionally, these are the preferred experience / skills that would indicate a particularly strong candidate:
• Proven experience in IT Leadership
• Exposure across various architecture domains and levels of abstraction
• Experience in Banking and Financial Services (payments architecture would be an advantage)
• A history of organization, attention to detail, and process improvement
• Breadth and depth of knowledge enabling technology agnostic decisions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs
• Experience helping engineering teams operate more efficiently through tweaks to process and rituals
• Effective communication across departments and functions
